Despite encouraging references to “violent Islamists” by Sen. A Shi'ite legislator, Qassim Daoud , openly calls for American troops to remain until 2020 or 2025 इराक के अनेक लोग सहमत हैं, इराक की सेना के लेफ्टिनेंट का कहना है कि “ जब अमेरिका के लोग छोडकर जायेंगे तो सब कुछ लूट लिया जायेगा क्योंकि कोई भी देखने वाला नहीं होगा” एक विश्लेषक का कहना है कि , “ निश्चित रूप से एक गृह युद्ध होगा”। कोई भी उस आशा और समायोजन के उत्साह भरे संदेशों को स्वीकार नहीं कर रहा जो कि अमेरिका के करदाताओं के धन से इराक में फैलाया जा रहा है। स्थानीय सुरक्षा समिति के अध्यक्ष के अनुसार, “ इराक अभी एक बच्चे के समान है जिसकी देखभाल के लिये कोई चाहिये” । एक शिया विधिनिर्माता कासिम दाऊद ने खुले रूप से कहा कि अमेरिका की सेनाओं को 2020 या 2025 तक रहना चाहिये।
